Overview

Rot Stop is a privacy-first focus and productivity app that helps users manage digital distractions using NFC tags. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

Key Privacy Principles:

  • ✅ All data stored locally on your device
  • ✅ No servers, no cloud storage, no personal data transmission
  • ✅ Anonymous, privacy-preserving analytics only (via TelemetryDeck — no personal data, no user identifiers)
  • ✅ No account creation required
  • ✅ Complete user control over data

Data Collection

We collect NO personal information.

The following data is stored exclusively on your device and never transmitted to us or any third party:

  • NFC Tag Identifiers: Stored in iOS Keychain (encrypted) to validate tags when you scan them. Never shared or synced.
  • App Selections: List of apps you choose to block, stored using iOS FamilyControls framework (local only).
  • Lock State: Whether apps are currently locked or unlocked, stored securely on your device (local only).
  • Settings & Preferences: Your app configuration stored securely on your device (local only).

Anonymous Feature Analytics

Rot Stop uses TelemetryDeck to collect anonymous, aggregate feature usage signals to understand which features are used and improve the app.

  • What is sent: Anonymous event names only (e.g., "a tag was added", "a schedule was created"). No personal data, no device identifiers, no IP addresses, no app names, no usage content.
  • Who provides it: TelemetryDeck — a privacy-focused, GDPR-compliant analytics service based in the EU.
  • What is NOT sent: No personal information, no device IDs, no IP tracking, no app selection data, no tag names, no usage patterns.

What We Do NOT Collect

  • ❌ No personal information (name, email, phone number)
  • ❌ No location data
  • ❌ No personal analytics or user-identifiable telemetry
  • ❌ No crash reports or diagnostics
  • ❌ No advertising identifiers
  • ❌ No browsing history, contacts, or photos access

Data Usage

All data stored by Rot Stop is used exclusively to provide app functionality. Rot Stop sends only anonymous analytics signals to TelemetryDeck. No personal data, tag data, or app selections are ever transmitted. The app works fully offline — analytics signals are queued and sent opportunistically. Your data is NEVER shared with third parties, used for advertising, or sold.

Data Security

All data benefits from iOS built-in security features:

  • Keychain Encryption: NFC tag tokens stored in iOS Keychain with hardware-level encryption
  • Device Protection: Data protected by your device passcode/Face ID/Touch ID
  • No Cloud Sync: Data never leaves your device
  • App Sandbox: iOS sandboxing prevents other apps from accessing Rot Stop data

Third-Party Services

Rot Stop uses one third-party service:

  • TelemetryDeck — anonymous feature analytics
    • Purpose: Understand aggregate feature adoption (e.g., how many users create schedules)
    • Data sent: Anonymous event signals only — no personal data, no device identifiers
    • Privacy: GDPR-compliant, EU-based, no IP tracking, no user profiling
    • Website: telemetrydeck.com

Apple frameworks used locally: CoreNFC, FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, DeviceActivity, and SwiftUI.

iOS Permissions

Rot Stop requests only essential permissions:

  • NFC Access: Read NFC tags to lock/unlock apps (only when you tap "Scan NFC"). Tag IDs stored in Keychain (encrypted, local only).
  • Family Controls: Apply Screen Time restrictions to selected apps (managed by iOS FamilyControls API, local only).
  • Background Activity: Used to enforce scheduled app blocking. Only activates at scheduled transition times (no continuous background processing).

We do NOT request: Location, Camera, Microphone, Contacts, or Photos.

Your Rights and Control

You can delete all app data at any time:

  • App Reset: Navigate to Settings → Advanced → Reset All Data within the app
  • Delete App: Delete Rot Stop from your device—iOS automatically removes all app data including Keychain entries

No account creation required. Deleting the app permanently removes all data.

Children's Privacy

Rot Stop does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app is rated 4+ (suitable for all ages).

Legal Compliance

GDPR (European Users): Data Controller: Pablo Eder. All processing is local on your device. You have full rights to access and delete data via app reset or uninstall.

CCPA (California Users): Rot Stop does not sell personal information. We do not collect personal information as defined by CCPA.
